A classic shape with a little swagger. Our Ribbed Twist Candle is a chubby golden round wrapped in fine ribs that spiral from top to bottom, as if someone gave it a gentle twist before it set. Hand-poured in pure beeswax by us, the beekeepers based in Montreal, it's about 7 cm tall and 7 cm wide, a cozy size for a nightstand, a bathroom shelf or a little cluster on the coffee table.

A twist on better wax: This candle is 160 g of pure beeswax. Beeswax melts at a higher temperature than soy wax, so it burns more slowly and lasts longer. The flame is brighter, with a warm golden glow, and it gives off a soft natural honey scent, where soy wax smells of almost nothing unless fragrance is added.

What is the Ribbed Twist candle made of?

100% pure beeswax. That's the whole list. No paraffin, no added fragrance, no dyes. The golden colour and the soft honey scent come straight from the hive.

What is the white dust on my beeswax candle?

It's called bloom. Pure beeswax naturally grows a thin, whitish haze over time, especially somewhere cool. It's harmless, and it's actually a sign you've got the real thing. To bring back the shine, gently buff the candle with a soft cloth, or warm it for a few seconds with a hair dryer on low until the haze melts away. Bloom can come back, and you can repeat this as often as you like. (Some people love the vintage look and leave it!)

Will my candle look exactly like the photo?

Not exactly, and that's part of the charm. Each candle is poured by hand in small batches, and beeswax is famously temperamental. Tiny bubbles, small marks, slight colour differences or little imperfections can happen, so your candle may look a little different from the one in the photo.

How do I burn the Ribbed Twist candle safely?

Burn it on a heat-safe plate or tray, since melted wax can run down the ribs. Trim the wick to about 6 mm before each lighting and keep it away from drafts. Never leave a lit candle unattended or within reach of children and pets.
