Small, sculptural and full of character. Our Ribbed Pedestal Pillar Candle looks like a little ribbed cup sitting on its own rounded base, with fine vertical ribs all the way around that catch the light beautifully. At about 10 cm tall and 5.5 cm wide, it's just the right size for a side table, a bookshelf or a cozy cluster of candles. Hand-poured in pure beeswax by us, the beekeepers based in Montreal.
Pair it with the taller Ribbed Hourglass Pillar for a matching set, or tuck it into a gift basket with a jar of our raw honey. Small candle, plenty of charm.
Petite pillar, proper wax: 175 g of pure beeswax and nothing else. Beeswax melts at a higher temperature than soy wax, so it burns down more slowly and lasts longer than a soy candle of the same size. The flame is brighter, with a warm golden glow, and it gives off a soft natural honey scent, where soy wax smells of almost nothing unless fragrance is added.
What is the Ribbed Pedestal Pillar candle made of?
What is the Ribbed Pedestal Pillar candle made of?
100% pure beeswax. That's the whole list. No paraffin, no added fragrance, no dyes. The golden colour and the soft honey scent come straight from the hive.
What is the white dust on my beeswax candle?
What is the white dust on my beeswax candle?
It's called bloom. Pure beeswax naturally grows a thin, whitish haze over time, especially somewhere cool. It's harmless, and it's actually a sign you've got the real thing. To bring back the shine, gently buff the candle with a soft cloth, or warm it for a few seconds with a hair dryer on low until the haze melts away. Bloom can come back, and you can repeat this as often as you like. (Some people love the vintage look and leave it!)
Will my candle look exactly like the photo?
Will my candle look exactly like the photo?
Not exactly, and that's part of the charm. Each candle is poured by hand in small batches, and beeswax is famously temperamental. Tiny bubbles, small marks, slight colour differences or little imperfections can happen, so your candle may look a little different from the one in the photo.
How do I burn the Ribbed Pedestal Pillar candle safely?
How do I burn the Ribbed Pedestal Pillar candle safely?
On the first burn, let it burn long enough for the melted wax to reach close to the edge, so it burns evenly afterwards. Trim the wick to about 6 mm before each lighting. Burn on a heat-safe plate, away from drafts, and never leave a lit candle unattended or within reach of children and pets.
How do I style beeswax pillar candles?
How do I style beeswax pillar candles?
Group them in odd numbers and mix heights for an easy, natural look. This little pedestal pillar (about 10 cm tall) looks lovely next to a taller pillar like our Ribbed Hourglass Pillar, on a heat-safe tray or plate. Leave a few centimetres between candles so each one burns evenly, and add a sprig of greenery around the tray (never touching the flame) for a cozy finishing touch.
