Part pillar, part sculpture. Our Ribbed Hourglass Pillar Candle has a softly pinched waist and a gently flared top, all wrapped in fine vertical ribs that catch the light from every angle. At about 16 cm tall and 6 cm wide, it makes a striking centrepiece on its own, or grouped with other pillars on the mantel. Hand-poured in pure beeswax by us, the beekeepers based in Montreal.
Light it for a dinner party, a slow Sunday or a long winter evening, and enjoy that warm honey glow. A beautiful gift for anyone who loves good design (or honey, or both).
Taller candle, better wax: With 331 g of pure beeswax, this pillar has plenty to give. Beeswax melts at a higher temperature than soy wax, so it burns down more slowly and lasts longer. Its flame is brighter, with a warm golden glow, and it carries a soft natural honey scent, where soy wax smells of almost nothing unless fragrance is added.
What is the Ribbed Hourglass Pillar candle made of?
What is the Ribbed Hourglass Pillar candle made of?
100% pure beeswax. That's the whole list. No paraffin, no added fragrance, no dyes. The golden colour and the soft honey scent come straight from the hive.
What is the white dust on my beeswax candle?
What is the white dust on my beeswax candle?
It's called bloom. Pure beeswax naturally grows a thin, whitish haze over time, especially somewhere cool. It's harmless, and it's actually a sign you've got the real thing. To bring back the shine, gently buff the candle with a soft cloth, or warm it for a few seconds with a hair dryer on low until the haze melts away. Bloom can come back, and you can repeat this as often as you like. (Some people love the vintage look and leave it!)
Will my candle look exactly like the photo?
Will my candle look exactly like the photo?
Not exactly, and that's part of the charm. Each candle is poured by hand in small batches, and beeswax is famously temperamental. Tiny bubbles, small marks, slight colour differences or little imperfections can happen, so your candle may look a little different from the one in the photo.
How do I burn the Ribbed Hourglass Pillar candle safely?
How do I burn the Ribbed Hourglass Pillar candle safely?
On the first burn, let it burn long enough for the melted wax to reach close to the edge, so it burns evenly afterwards. Trim the wick to about 6 mm before each lighting. Burn on a heat-safe plate, away from drafts, and never leave a lit candle unattended or within reach of children and pets.
How big is the Ribbed Hourglass Pillar candle?
How big is the Ribbed Hourglass Pillar candle?
It stands about 16 cm tall and 6 cm wide, and weighs about 331 g of pure beeswax. It sits nicely on a standard pillar plate or a small tray, and looks great on its own or paired with a shorter pillar. Since each one is poured by hand, sizes can vary slightly.
