Go big and glow home. Our Large Triangle Top Pillar is a chunky ribbed pillar with a pointed top: the ribs run all the way up and meet right at the wick, like a little golden tower. It's modern, a bit architectural, and it looks just as good unlit on a shelf as it does glowing on the holiday table. Hand-poured in pure beeswax by us, the beekeepers based in Montreal.

See that frosty dusting near the base in the photos? That's bloom, the natural sign of real beeswax (more on that in the questions below). Beeswax burns slowly with a bright, warm flame, so this one is in it for the long haul. Light it for dinner with friends, or just because it's Tuesday.

Why beeswax outshines soy: At 416 g, a big pillar like this deserves a wax that goes the distance. Beeswax melts at a higher temperature than soy, so it burns more slowly and lasts longer. Its flame is brighter and warmer, and it fills the room with a soft honey scent that soy wax simply doesn't have on its own.

What is the Large Triangle Top Pillar candle made of?

100% pure beeswax. That's the whole list. No paraffin, no added fragrance, no dyes. The golden colour and the soft honey scent come straight from the hive.

What is the white dust on my beeswax candle?

It's called bloom. Pure beeswax naturally grows a thin, whitish haze over time, especially somewhere cool. It's harmless, and it's actually a sign you've got the real thing. To bring back the shine, gently buff the candle with a soft cloth, or warm it for a few seconds with a hair dryer on low until the haze melts away. Bloom can come back, and you can repeat this as often as you like. (Some people love the vintage look and leave it!)

Will my candle look exactly like the photo?

Not exactly, and that's part of the charm. Each candle is poured by hand in small batches, and beeswax is famously temperamental. Tiny bubbles, small marks, slight colour differences or little imperfections can happen, so your candle may look a little different from the one in the photo.

How do I burn the Large Triangle Top Pillar candle safely?

On the first burn, let it burn long enough for the melted wax to reach close to the edge, so it burns evenly afterwards. Trim the wick to about 6 mm before each lighting. Burn on a heat-safe plate, away from drafts, and never leave a lit candle unattended or within reach of children and pets.

Why is my beeswax pillar candle tunnelling, and how do I fix it?

Tunnelling happens when the flame melts a narrow hole down the middle instead of a full pool, usually because the first few burns were too short. Next time, burn it long enough for the melted wax to reach close to the edge. If a tunnel has already formed, wrap a strip of aluminium foil around the top, leaving the centre open, so the heat melts the walls back down evenly. Never leave it unattended while you do this.
