Slim, simple and a little shorter than our 12 inch pair, these 10 inch Taper Candles come as a pair and are just right for an everyday dinner table, a mantel or a low centrepiece. Each one narrows gently from a sturdy base to a fine tip and fits a standard taper candle holder. Hand-poured in pure beeswax by us, the beekeepers based in Montreal.

The pair comes wrapped in tissue paper with a pretty bee print, so they're gift ready the moment you pick them up. Local pickup only: tapers are too delicate to ship, so this pair is available for pickup in Montreal.

Everyday tapers, better wax: Each taper is 50 g of pure beeswax (100 g for the pair). Beeswax melts at a higher temperature than soy wax, so these tapers burn slowly and last longer. The flame is brighter, with a warm golden glow, and it carries a soft natural honey scent, where soy wax smells of almost nothing unless fragrance is added.

What are the 10 inch taper candles made of?

100% pure beeswax. That's the whole list. No paraffin, no added fragrance, no dyes. The golden colour and the soft honey scent come straight from the hive.

What is the white dust on my beeswax candle?

It's called bloom. Pure beeswax naturally grows a thin, whitish haze over time, especially somewhere cool. It's harmless, and it's actually a sign you've got the real thing. To bring back the shine, gently buff the candle with a soft cloth, or warm it for a few seconds with a hair dryer on low until the haze melts away. Bloom can come back, and you can repeat this as often as you like. (Some people love the vintage look and leave it!)

Will my candles look exactly like the photo?

Not exactly, and that's part of the charm. Each candle is made by hand in small batches, and beeswax is famously temperamental. Tiny bubbles, small marks, slight colour differences or little imperfections can happen, so your candles may look a little different from the ones in the photo.

How do I burn the 10 inch taper candles safely?

Set each taper firmly upright in a holder that fits snugly (if it's a little loose, a twist of foil around the base helps). Trim the wick to about 6 mm before each lighting and keep the candles away from drafts so they burn evenly. Never leave a lit candle unattended or within reach of children and pets.

Should I choose the 10 inch or the 12 inch taper candles?

Both are the same pure beeswax and fit the same standard holders. The 10 inch pair is a little shorter and lighter (50 g per taper), which suits everyday meals, a mantel or a table where you still want to see across. The 12 inch pair (66 g per taper) is taller and more dramatic for special dinners. Both are available for local pickup in Montreal only, and online orders have a $20 minimum, so they pair nicely with some honey or a balm.
